A good walk to discover St John’s in the Vale village and the Wainwright summit of High Rigg. Dog friendly.

In early August, we went with some friends for a short hike to St John’s in the Vale. This hike was recommended by one of my colleagues. St John’s in the Vale is a small village near Keswick. These two peaks are not very high but still allow to have an unobstructed view of the surrounding peaks. It is a nice hike to do because there is no difficulty and it is perfect for the whole family. We took the time to take a long break to eat and discuss all the way.

Début août, nous sommes allés avec des amis faire une petite randonnée vers St John’s in the Vale. Cette randonnée m’avait été conseillée par un de mes collègues. St John’s in the Vale est un petit village proche de Keswick. Ces deux sommets ne sont pas très élevés mais permettent tout de même d’avoir une vue dégagée sur les sommets environnants. C’est une randonnée agréable à faire car peu difficile et parfaite pour toute la famille. Nous avons ainsi pris le temps de faire une longue pause pour manger et de discuter tout le long du chemin.

Voici les étapes clés pour faire cette randonnée:

–From the village car park take the B5322 and pass in front of the hotel “The Lodge in the Vale”. Continue straight on the road until you see a path that leaves on the left (just after Legburthwaite car park united utilities). Take this path and continue until the national road then turn right and follow the road for a while before taking a path on the right.

-Depuis le parking du village prendre la B5322 et passer devant l’hôtel The lodge in the Vale. Continuer tout droit sur la route jusqu’à voir un sentier qui part sur la gauche (juste après le parking Legburthwaite car park united utilities). Prendre ce sentier et continuer jusqu’à la nationale puis prendre à droite et longer la route pendant un petit moment avant de prendre un sentier sur la droite.

–Pass the gate and continue straight on the path that climbs through the forest. Continue straight on to the top of Wren Crag. Then follow the trail straight towards High Rigg.

-Passer le portail et continuer tout droit sur le sentier qui monte à travers la forêt. Continuer toujours tout droit jusqu’en haut de Wren Crag. Puis suivre le sentier tout droit en direction de High Rigg.

–Once at the top of the summit take the trail down the valley towards St John’s in the Vale. Once on the road turn right, pass the church then take the path on the right.

-Une fois en haut du sommet prendre le sentier qui redescend à travers la vallée en direction de St John’s in the Vale. Une fois sur la route prendre à droite, passer l’église puis prendre le sentier sur la droite.

–Continue on this trail for a long time, pass Sosgill then the teahouse at Low Bridge End Farm. Always follow the path until you reach the small forest and the gate of the beginning of the hike. Take the path in the opposite direction to find the parking.

-Continuer sur ce sentier pendant un long moment, passer Sosgill puis le salon de thé à Low Bridge End Farm. Suivre toujours le sentier jusqu’à arriver dans la petite forêt et au portail du début de la randonnée. Prendre le chemin en sens inverse pour retrouver le parking.
