Alderley Edge, Cheshire Countryside and Hare Hill Garden National Trust – Cheshire, England

On the outskirts of Alderley Edge village, around 40 minutes south of Manchester, there is National Trust woodland. This wood has lots of trails accessible to the whole family and several activities are offered such as orienteering walks. You’ll find lots of ideas on the National Trust website.

That day we wanted to hike a little bit longer and we decided to go to Hare Hill Garden via a circular trail from the NT car park (just past the Wizard Inn on Macclesfield Road B5087. Paying for non-members of the NT).

Hare Hill Garden is a small garden belonging to the National Trust, which contains beautiful varieties of rhododendrons, azaleas and trees of all kinds. In the middle of the garden is a kind of square wall with a lawn in the centre. Many families come to relax on the lawn and play ball games. But the prettiest are the wood sculptures of hares scattered throughout the garden.

It is a very nice place to see especially if you have children. For adults we would recommend hiking and visiting Hare Hill Garden at the same time as the garden is quite small and you may be a little bit disappointed.

We ended the day with a stop at the pub, which is across the parking. In the summer this pub is very popular and it may be a little hard to find free tables but it is a very nice place to have a drink or something to eat.
