During our holiday in France last year, we spent two weeks with Matthieu’s parents who live near Nantes in Loire Atlantique. We took this opportunity to visit our family and university friends but as well to go hiking in the area.
One of our university friends now live in Quimper and as she had a day off we decided to meet for a walk. After some online researches we found that walk that follow the river of Vannes and the Gulf of Morbihan. We have been lucky that day because the weather was beautiful, which allow us to make the most of the day. Additionally, as we went beginning of May, there were not a lot of tourists so we could let Skye run free.

After meeting our friend in Goah Vèr car park near the village of Séné, we took the direction of Mousterian using countryside lanes. We then crossed some marshes that are part of the nature reserve before arriving at la pointe de Bil. From there, we followed the shore of the Gulf of Morbihan to arrive at Port Anna. The coastal path offers beautiful views over the several islands of the Gulf . Finally, we followed the shore of the River of Vannes with a great view on the island of Conleau to go back to the car park. There are plenty of gorgeous estates along the path and it is possible to stop at one of the oyster farms to try some oysters.
We really enjoyed this walk that allowed us to discover a bit of the Gulf of Morbihan. A great walk that we recommend if you are around that area.
Do you know this walk? Or the Morbihan county?

I used to visit a friend’s house in The Lot, Puy l’Eveque. Have been going for 15 years in early and again in late summer. Beautiful area. Great Cahor wines.
They sold it last year so if I go out again I’ll find somewhere else to stay..

We’ve been to Vannes and Quimper a few times on holiday some years ago now, though. We once saw the end of a leg of le Tour in Vannes. I remember waiting for a few hours for the cyclists to arrive, and when they did theyflashed past in a few seconds on a flat sprint finish! 🚴 It was an experience though.

This is the issue with the Tour de France, you can spend hours waiting to see them and when they arrive they are so fast 😂.
I hope you enjoyed your visit of Vannes and Quimper. I have never been in the towns just in the area.

I have seen 4 stages of le Tour. 3 in France and once in England.
In France the waiting is definitely part of the experience! Never seen a mountain stage. Would love to, though 🚴 🚴 🚴 🚴
