We took advantage of this last long weekend of the summer to visit the waterfalls of Aira Force. This place that is part of the National Trust is very popular with families. Try to go early enough to find a parking space and enjoy the beauty of the place. This hike is quite easy, there are just two climbs that can be a little hard. The landscapes are very varied, and the hike offers magnificent views of the Ullswater lake, the surrounding peaks and finally the waterfalls of Aira Force. It is a very beautiful hike accessible to all the family.

Here are the key steps to do this hike:

• From the car park, take the direction of Aira Force. Once crossing the bridge turn right and take the direction of the right path going out of the forest. Go through the gate and follow the path that climbs the hillside. Follow the path to an intersection where you have to take the top path. Continue straight to another intersection where you have to turn left.
• Continue straight on until you reach the next intersection where you have to follow the left path towards Gowbarrow / Airy Crag. Follow the path to the summit and continue on the trail down.
• Once on the flat part take the left path towards the waterfalls and down again following this path to the car park.

Nous avons profité de ce dernier long weekend de l’été pour aller voir les cascades d’Aira Force. C’est endroit qui fait partie du National Trust est très prisé par les familles. Allez-y assez tôt si vous voulez trouver une place de parking et profiter tranquillement de la beauté des lieux. Cette randonnée est assez facile, il y a juste deux montées qui peuvent être un peu dures. Les paysages sont très variés et la randonnée offre de magnifiques vues sur le lac d’Ullswater, sur les sommets environnants et pour finir sur les cascades de Aira Force. C’est une très belle randonnée accessible à toute la famille.

Voici les étapes clés pour réaliser cette randonnée:

• Depuis le parking, prendre en direction d’Aira Force. Une fois le pont de traversé prendre à droite et direction du sentier qui sort de la forêt. Passer la porte et suivre le sentier qui monte à flanc de colline. Suivre le sentier jusqu’à une intersection où il faut prendre le sentier du haut.
• Continuer tout droit jusqu’à une autre intersection où il faut prendre à gauche.Continuer toujours tout droit jusqu’à la prochaine intersection où il faut suivre le chemin de gauche en direction de Gowbarrow/ Airy Crag.
• Suivre le sentier jusqu’au sommet puis continuer sur le sentier qui redescend.
• Une fois sur le plat prendre le chemin de gauche en direction des cascades et redescendre en suivant ce chemin jusqu’au parking.
