Three parks for walking in Manchester, England

Manchester is unfortunately not a city with a lot of green space. Even though some places such as the canal paths at Media City UK or Castelfield / Deansgate are very nice for a stroll on Sunday they still lack vegetation.

So I wanted to talk about three places in Manchester where it is nice to walk and where you can find trees, flowers, plants and even animals.

The best known and largest is Heaton Park. Located in Prestwich area, this park, which covers an area of approximately 250 hectares, is one of the largest in the North West of England. Inside this park there are a lake, a golf course, historic buildings, an observatory and even a farm. You can visit the farm and it contains a small selection of animals such as rabbits, chickens, donkeys, pigs… It is a very nice place to bring the kids to see the animals. Dogs kept on a leash are allowed in the park. Heaton Park is a very welcoming place, where you can spend an afternoon resting in the grass or playing ball games with friends. The best thing of this park is the unobstructed view on Manchester.

The second and in my opinion the most beautiful is Fletcher Moss Park. This botanical garden located in Didsbury is a perfect place to take beautiful pictures of flowers and plants or simply to contemplate them and to escape from civilisation during an afternoon. The garden is often crowded with people but the park around allows walking quietly. After the walk you can stop in one of the many restaurants and pubs that contains Didsbury village. The botanical garden is really beautiful to see. Dogs kept on a leash are allowed in the park.

The third park I wanted to talk about is Chorlton Water Park. Located in Chorlton this park, which is actually a natural reserve, is a great place to walk along the Mersey River or around the many lakes that are inside the park. In summer or in winter this park is very pleasant especially if you like being close to the water. Dogs kept on a leash are allowed in the park.
