Ghyll scrambling in Peak District, England

Not long ago we were introduced to Scrambling. The scrambling is a mix between hiking and climbing. This involves climbing up a summit through paths with large rocks that must be climbed by force of arms. There is no need for scrambling equipment and there are several levels. At the moment we do grade 1-2 scrambling.

The first time we did this with our friend Braxton we absolutely loved it and when he offered to do the same thing but going up a river we were immediately interested.

This activity is called Ghyll Scrambling. It is not something very well known and yet it’s great to do with family or friends. We used the company Lost Earth Adventures that organises this kind of activity in Peak District. They provide the wet suits and a guide accompanies you throughout the 3h activity. We were a group of 10 people. No need to be very fit or to know how to swim to do this activity. But the water is very cold even with a wet suit.

I think everyone has fun during this day, anyway I loved it and I can only recommend it. Unfortunately I did not take pictures but you can find a video from their website below.

What do you think? Is this an activity you would like to do?
