A great day exploring the countryside around Alderley Edge village and finding some geocaches.

Une belle journée à explorer la campagne autour du village d’Alderley Edge et trouver quelques géocaches.

The other weekend we had some French couchsurfers at home and on the saturday they wanted to do a little hike mixed with some geocaching.

L’autre weekend nous avions des couchsurfers français à la maison et le samedi ils avaient envi de faire une petite randonnée mêlée à du géocaching.

For those who do not know what is Couchsurfing, it is the fact of hosting people at home for free and in return being able to sleep for free at other people home. I talked about this wonderful experience in our article about the Yorkshire coast.

Pour ceux qui ne savent pas ce que c’est le Couchsurfing, c’est le fait d’accueillir gratuitement des gens chez soi et en échange pouvoir dormir gratuitement chez d’autres personnes. Je vous raconte cette merveilleuse expérience dans notre article sur la côte du Yorkshire.

Geocaching, on the other hand, is an activity that you can do with your family, friends or on your own and which, consist of finding objects hidden in the nature much like a treasure hunt. There is an application of the same name that you can download on your phone and that will tell you the object close to you. There are a lot in the world, and without knowing it we pass close to them every day. I did not think that this activity was widespread but when I saw the number of object on the application and the number of people playing it I wondered why I haven’t heard about this activity before.

Le Géocaching est par contre une activité que l’on peut faire en famille, en amis ou tout seul et qui consiste à trouver des objets cachés dans la nature un peu comme une chasse au trésor. Il y a une application du même nom que vous pouvez télécharger sur votre téléphone et qui vous indiquera les caches proches de vous. Et il y en a beaucoup et sans le savoir nous passons devant tous les jours. Je ne pensais d’ailleurs pas que cette activité était répandue mais quand j’ai vu le nombre sur l’application et le nombre de gens qui y jouaient je me suis demandée pourquoi pas plus de personnes ne sont au courant de cette activité gratuite.

So we found on the application a circular hike in Alderley Edge bordering with Nether Alderley that included 17 objects.

Nous avons donc trouvé sur l’application une randonnée circulaire à Alderley Edge en bordure avec Nether Alderley qui comprenait 17 caches.

We did not find all the objects especially the last 4 as I think we were fed up and my mobile phone had no more battery lol. With Matthieu we decided that we would do it again but with less objects to find, maximum 4-5 objects will be good for 10 km walk because we really felt like we stopped every 5 mins to look for an object.

Nous n’avons pas trouvé toutes caches surtout les 4 dernières car nous en avions marre je pense et mon portable n’avait plus de batterie lol. Avec Matthieu nous avons décidé que nous en referions une comme ça mais avec moins de caches max 4-5 pour environ un circuit de 10 km car nous avons eu vraiment l’impression de nous arrêter toutes les 5 mins pour chercher un objet.

The hike itself is very easy because there is no ascent and passes by the National Trust property Nether Alderdey. We took the opportunity to see this old mill from outside because the visits are only by reservation. Alderley Edge is a posh village and this hike passes in front of the beautiful houses. We were able to observe magnificent houses.

La randonnée en elle même est très facile car plate et passe par le moulin Nether Alderley du National Trust. Nous en avons profité pour le voir de l’extérieur car les visites ne se font que par réservation. Alderley Edge est un village très riche et d’ailleurs cette randonnée passe devant les belles maisons de ce village. Nous avons donc pu observer des maisons plus magnifiques les unes que les autres.
