That weekend we welcomed Selina whom we met through the site Couchsurfing at home. She wanted to visit the English countryside but did not have walking shoes so we chose a hike not too long and easy to do.
This stroll happens half the time in the forest before leaving through the fields. It is very pleasant because it runs for a while along a stream with waterfalls. It’s a hike for the whole family because it’s virtually flat all the time.

Here are the steps to do this hike:

• From the parking take the road down to Lathkill Dale. Follow the road until you reach the river. Take the trail on the right. (Do not cross the river).
• Follow the path for a while. You will pass waterfalls on your left and rock formations on your right.
• Arriving at a crossing of roads take the small bridge on your left then the road that leaves in front of the bridge. This path will climb through the forest. Once up the hill continue through the fields until arriving in front of a farm.
• At the farm take the path on the left and continue straight on the Limestone Way until arriving on a national road (back lane).
• Continue on the national road for a short time and then turn left through the fields. There is a sign indicating the way. Continue to the farmhouse.
• Cross the farm and follow the footpath. Continue on this road until you arrive again at the river that you will have to cross this time to go up on the road that you took previously.

If you have a little time and want a beer you can go to Bakewell which is not very far.

Ce weekend là nous accueillions Selina que nous avons rencontré grâce au site Couchsurfing à la maison. Elle avait envie d’aller voir la campagne anglaise mais n’avait pas de chaussures de marche du coup nous avons choisi une randonnée pas trop longue et facile à faire.
Cette balade se passe la moitié du temps dans la forêt avant de partir à travers champs. Elle est très agréable car elle longe pendant un bon moment un cours d’eau avec des cascades. C’est une randonnée pour toute la famille car c’est pratiquement tout le temps plat.

Voici les étapes pour faire cette randonnée :

• Depuis le parking prendre la route qui descend en direction de Lathkill Dale. Suivre la route jusqu’à arriver à la rivière. Prendre qui part vers la droite. (Ne pas traverser la rivière).
• Suivre le chemin pendant un bon moment. Vous allez passer devant pleins de cascade et de formations roches sur votre droite.
• Arrivez à un croissement de chemin prendre le petit pont sur votre gauche puis le chemin qui part en face du pont. Ce chemin va monter à travers la forêt. Une fois en haut de la colline continuer à travers champs jusqu’à arriver devant une ferme.
• Au niveau de la ferme prendre le chemin à gauche et continuer tout droit sur le Limestone Way jusqu’à arriver sur une nationale (back lane).
• Continuer sur la nationale pendant un petit moment puis prendre à gauche à travers champs. Il y a un panneau indiquant le chemin. Continuer jusqu’à la ferme.
• Traverser la ferme et suivre le panneau footpath. Continuer sur ce chemin jusqu’à arriver à nouveau à la rivière que vous devez traverser cette fois-ci pour remonter sur la route que vous avez pris à l’aller.

Si vous avez un peu de temps et que vous avez envie d’une bière vous pouvez aller faire un tour à Bakewell qui n’est pas très loin.
