Find two great walks to discover Ladybower reservoir in the Peak District National Park.

Trouvez deux belles randonnées pour découvrir le réservoir de Ladybower dans le parc national du Peak District.

The Ladybower Reservoir is a nice place for a Sunday walk. There is plenty of parking (park and pay) along the lake and there is even a small cafe and ice cream shop at the end of the road. The parking along the A57 Snake Road is free. We went twice there and both times it was crowded. So if you want to be sure to find a place go there early in the morning.

Le barrage de Ladybower est un endroit agréable pour une promenade du dimanche. Il y a beaucoup de places de parking (payantes) le long du barrage et il y a même un petit café et marchand de glace à la fin de la route. Le parking le long de la route A57 Snake Road est lui gratuit. Nous sommes allés deux fois à cet endroit et les deux fois c’était rempli de monde. Donc si vous voulez être sûr de trouver de la place allez y assez tôt.

There are several walking paths leaving from the reservoir. I give you two in this article.

Il y a plusieurs randonnées qui partent du barrage et dans cet article je vous en propose deux.

The lake is surrounded by a hiking trail with two bridges at each end to reach the other side. This concrete path is flat. It is therefore an easy walk to do in family. It will take approximately 2-3 hours to complete the tour. This walk can be combined with a visit to Derwent Dam.

Le lac est entouré d’un chemin de randonnée avec deux ponts de chaque extrémité pour rejoindre l’autre rive. Ce sentier est pratiquement goudronner tout le long et plat. C’est donc une randonnée assez facile à faire en famille. L’endroit à ne pas manquer est le pont du barrage « Derwent Dam ». Il faudra compter environ 2-3h pour en faire le tour.

This walk is a bit harder than the previous one because it is steeper. It begins by following the right side of the reservoir before turning to the right to follow the path that climbs to high pastures. From there you will have a magnificent view on the lake and the surrounding valley.

Cette randonnée est un peu plus dure que la précédente car il y a beaucoup plus de dénivelés. Elle commence par longer la rive droite du barrage avant de bifurquer sur la droite afin de monter dans les hauts pâturages et monts pour avoir une magnifique vue sur le lac et la vallée environnante.

Here are the steps to do this hike:

Voici les étapes pour réaliser cette randonnée:

• From the parking along the A57 take the right side of the lake. Follow the path until you meet a path on your right in the direction of Derwent Moor. If you wish instead of taking the path to the right you could first go to Derwent Dam and have a look at the ancient village of Derwent buried under the waters;
• If you have chosen to go as far as Derwent Dam turn back in order to find the path that goes towards Derwent Moor;
• Once on this trail, follow it through the fields. Once you arrive at the top of the hill turn right towards Ashopton;
• Follow the trail that goes down to Ashopton and the A57.
