Visiting Norwich city – Norfolk, England

After some busy weeks I am finally finding the time to continue writing about our holiday in Norfolk. During one of the days there, we decided an afternoon to visit Norwich. We didn’t have any specific plan in mind and having our dog Skye with us meant that we couldn’t visit any museums so instead we decided to just wander through the streets of Norwich city center.

We started by joining the shore of the river Wensum using the riverside walking path before reaching the cathedral. We then went back along the river to the train station where we went back towards the city center and the castle. After admiring the castle and the view of the city from it, we walked back down the busy shopping streets where we found the little market with its colourful stands. Continuing our exploration, we found a little tearoom, in which I bought some Iraqi pastries before walking back to the car park. It was a short visit of the city but that still allowed us to discover some of its beautiful buildings and river. Additionally, the sun was shining and people were enjoying an afternoon outdoor, which made the walk even nicer.

  1. It must be about thirty years since I last went to Norwich. You got some great photos here, I especially like the one of Pull’s Ferry, it’s one place in the city I always wanted to go to but somehow never managed it.

    1. Thank you Eunice. Pull’s ferry is lovely as the walk along the canal. It feels that you are not walking in a city. Next time you go there, you should try to do the riverside walk.

  2. What a lovely and relaxed way to explore Norwich! I really like how you made the most of the day despite having your dog with you and not following a strict itinerary. Wandering along the river, visiting the cathedral and castle, and enjoying the local market sounds like the perfect mix of nature, history, and local culture. Also, those Iraqi pastries from the tearoom sound delicious — what a nice touch! Your photos really bring the city to life. Thanks for sharing your experience!
