Summary – October to December 2024 and 2025 wishes

I would like to wish you a Happy New Year to all of you and your family. I would also like to thank you all for reading my little blog.

Je vous souhaite une Joyeuse Année. Je voudrais aussi vous remercier de lire mon petit blog.

I took a little break during Christmas and new year to enjoy time with my family. I am now starting the year with a summary of what happened in our life in the past three months (October- December 2024). Additionally, I am going to discuss my wishes for 2025. Hope you will enjoy it.

J’ai fait une pause entre Noël et le premier de l’an pour passer du temps en famille. Je commence maintenant l’année en écrivant ce résumé de ce qui s’est passé dans notre vie ces trois derniers mois (Octobre – Décembre 2024). Je vais aussi parler de mes souhaits pour 2025. J’espère que vous apprécierez la lecture.

Personal Life:

Beginning of September (for me) and beginning of October (for Matt) was our 10th year anniversary of moving to UK. It is crazy how time flies and I struggled to realise that we have been living in UK for 10 years now. It feels like yesterday that we moved. We have done so many things in the past 10 years and discovered a lot of lovely places in the UK.

Début septembre (pour moi) et début octobre (pour Matt) nous avons célébré nos 10 ans au Royaume-Uni. C’est fou comme le temps passe vite et j’ai parfois du mal à réaliser que nous vivons au Royaume-Uni depuis 10 ans. C’est comme si c’était hier que nous avions déménagé. Nous avons fait tellement de choses ces 10 dernières années et avons découvert de magnifiques endroits au Royaume-Uni.

Additionally, in November I celebrated my 35th birthday with a nice weekend in Peebles, Scotland. It was very busy at work during the autumn so it was nice to break the period until Christmas with this little break.

De plus, j’ai célébré en Novembre mes 35 ans en passant un weekend à Peebles en Ecosse. Nous avons été pas mal occupé au travail pendant l’automne et c’était sympa de faire une petite pause avant Noël.

Finally we took two good weeks between Christmas and New Year to enjoy some time relaxing at home with family. Matt’s parents even joined us during that time.

Finalement, nous avons pris deux semaines de vacances entre Noël et la nouvelle année pour se reposer à la maison en famille. Les parents de Matt nous ont même rejoint.

Walking:

Randonnées:

We had a couple of nice days during autumn but not a lot so we haven’t been able to do as many walks as we would have liked. We still managed to do beautiful walks to Loughrigg fell summit, around Lanercost Priory and in Whinlatter forest. We also managed some local walks around Buttermere, Ennerdale and Loweswater.

Nous avons eu quelques jours ensoleillés pendant l’automne mais pas assez et n’avons pas pu faire autant de randonnées qu’espéré. Nous avons tout de même fait une magnifique randonnée jusqu’au sommet de Loughrigg fell, une autour du prieuré de Lanercost et une dans la forêt de Whinlatter. Nous avons aussi fait des randonnées locales autour de Buttermere, Ennerdale et Loweswater.

During autumn we mainly stayed at home and only managed a weekend in Peebles and a weekend in Edinburgh with some friends.

Pendant l’automne, nous sommes restés en majorité à la maison et avons seulement fait un weekend à Peebles et un weekend à Edimbourg avec des amies.

Blogging:

I am still working on updating my blog (e.g. checking that all the links work, format is consistent, adding some new pages, etc) and it is taking more time than anticipated. I am hoping to have finished by spring.

Je travaille toujours à mettre à jour mon blog ( vérifier que les liens marchent, que les articles aient le même format, ajouter de nouvelles pages etc) et ça me prends plus de temps que j’avais envisagé. J’espère finir pour le printemps.

Otherwise I am nearly up to date with my writing and only have three blog posts about our summer holiday in France and one about our visit of Maryport aquarium.

Sinon je suis pratiquement à jour dans mon écriture d’articles et il ne me reste que trois articles de nos vacances d’été en France et un de notre visite de l’aquarium de Maryport.

As the beginning of the year I have been mainly listening to audiobooks during autumn. I have managed to read / listen the following books (in reading order).

Comme le début de l’année j’ai en majorité écouté des audiobooks pendant l’automne. J’ai réussi à lire/ écouter les livres suivants (dans l’ordre de lecture).

2025 wishes:

For 2025, I would like to finish updating my blog and try to be more active on social media. Which social media do you use the most for promoting your blog?

Pour 2025, j’espère finir de mettre à jour mon blog et être un peu plus active sur les réseaux sociaux. Quel réseau social utilisez vous pour promouvoir votre blog?

I am also going to moderate walks on Visorando and continue writing my walks on this website. I am planning to write a blog post about my experience using Visorando for walking.

Je vais aussi me mettre à la modération des randonnées sur Visorando et continuer à écrire les randonnées sur ce site. Je vais d’ailleurs écrire un article sur mon expérience d’utilisatrice Visorando pour mes randonnées.

We are going to continue using Home Exchange to plan our holiday as we really enjoyed the experience in 2024. I also received a discount for the second year so only paying £129 for the entire year, unlimited exchange.

Nous allons continuer d’utiliser Home Exchange pour planifier nos vacances car nous avons vraiment aimé l’expérience en 2024. J’ai aussi reçu une réduction pour la deuxième année et je vais seulement payer £129 pour l’année entière, nombre d’échange illimitée.

We have some holidays already planned for April (if everything goes as planned) and will have to go back to France in July for Matt’s sister big 40 birthday. Then we will see what else we do.

Nous avons des vacances de planifié pour Avril (si tout se passe comme prévu) et allons rentré en France en Juillet pour les 40 ans de la soeur de Matt. Puis nous verrons ce que nous ferrons.

I will also keep organising some weekends away to break the year and of course I have a long list of walks I would like to do but Let’s see what 2025 will bring !!!

Je vais aussi essayer d’organiser des petits weekends pour couper l’année et bien évidemment j’ai une longue liste de randonnées que je voudrais faire mais nous verrons ce que 2025 va nous amener !!!

  2. Happy New Year and thanks for the mention, Melodie. It sounds like a good year. When it comes to promoting the blog I’m lazy. Via WordPress I use Facebook, Instagram and Threads but I seldom do follow up. I also use Twitter but that’s not so popular these days. I had a look at Visorando, which I’d never heard of and will be interested in your post about using that, but doubt if I would post a walk on there. Hope your plans for the year proceed as you would like. The house swap system is a good one.

    1. Thank you. I am not putting too much pressure on myself that is why it is taking ages as I only update it when I am in the mood 🤣. Blogging still need to stay a pleasure and not become a constraint for me.

  17. Sounds like you had a good last months of the year. To promote my blog and blog posts, I mainly participate in groups, forums and message boards as being an active member in targeted forums and online communities can often give me a much better return on my time than social media.
