The first time we walk around Ennerdale water it was for my birthday in 2018. Since then, we have done this walk several times as it is very close to our house. Most of the time this place is quiet even in summer as it is not really popular.

We have done this walk (or part of it) in several weather conditions and it was always an enjoyable walk.

There is a bit of a scramble near Angler’s Crag and it might be better to start the walk by the right side of the lake. Also I would avoid when it is raining. The path is well visible only at the scrambling part the path is less visible and I would recommend to not follow the path that goes on the edge of the cliff but to use the less visible path in the middle of the rocks.

For people liking Geocaching, there is a nice geocache with great view near Bowness Point.

Have you walked around Ennerdale water?

  1. This is a grand walk. I think it’s the only lake in the Lake District that you can circumnavigate completely off rosd. You had a good day for it too. The early fog would have added something to the walk I think.
