Visit of Tatton Park, National Trust – Cheshire, England

We went to Tatton Park twice. The first time, we visited the property while the second time; we attended the Food Festival in the park. We started the first visit by walking in the different gardens of the manor. There were vegetables, fruit trees, trees of all kinds but mostly beautiful roses. A perfect place to practice flowers photography. Then our walk led us to lose ourselves in the labyrinth of trees before arriving at the manor. The manor is richly decorated. The rooms are spacious and bright which is rare for houses built at that time. A lot of people are visited Tatton Park every year but the property is so big that they didn’t bothered us. We ended the day ended by visiting the National Trust store. I love their shops, there are always handmade and very original things. This time I discovered Tea from the Manor teas.

Tatton Park is a National Trust property located about 30 minutes south of Manchester. This place is very famous because in addition to the huge manor that it is possible to visit, Tatton Park contains beautiful gardens, an amazing park and farms with animals that will please everyone. There are often festivals organised in the park including the festival of flowers and the festival of food. You will need a full day to fully enjoy this place.

The following year we returned to Tatton Park but this time to do the Food Festival. We had bought half price tickets on Groupon. The food festival takes place in a part of the park and includes food stands, drinks and cooking demonstrations and other shows. I was really disappointed with the food festival because I did not really understand the value of paying £ 7.50 (half the price of the original ticket) to gain access to food stand selling products. We were able to taste a pot of chocolate mousse Bonne Maman and a mini glass of lemonade that’s all. All the rest had to be paid and it was more like a food market. I was expecting to have more things to taste for free. But I still discovered handmade halloumi from Yorkshire. What also pissed me off was the fact that I had to pay £6 to park the car in a muddy field.

To resume, you understood that I won’t go back to the food festival. But I recommend you to visit Tatton manor and its gardens.

Have you been to Tatton Park before?

      1. La prochaine fois que tu es dans le coin, il faut passer un peu de temps à Knutsford (c’est dix minutes à pied de l’entrée de Tatton Park). Il y a des cafés très sympa pour prendre un thé 🙂

  1. I used to live not far from Tatton Park and visited quite often. But that was nearly 40 years ago and I don’t remember having to pay: certainly not 7.50 pounds. Nice place though; love the big teapot.
