Early November we decided to go for a hike in the Peak District to see the beautiful colours of autumn. The hike around the Langsett reservoir is quite popular and short so we decided to extand it by also going around Midhope reservoir. This circular hike is easy to do and accessible to dogs. The path runs along the dam before going across fields. A few kilometres along a quite national road allow to join the second dam. The end of the hike offers magnificent views on the reservoirs. The path can sometimes be quite muddy.

Here are the steps to do this hike:

• From the car park, go down to the first reservoir and take on the left. Follow until you reach Midhope Cliff Lane. Cross the bridge and follow the road through the forest.
• Take the path on the top left which goes through fields. Follow it until you reach Dark Lane then Midhope Hall Lane. Continue for a moment before going back across the fields by a path to the right.
• Continue through the fields and the forest until you reach Mortimer Road. Turn right and right again at the junction on Gill Royd Lane. Continue on Shaw Lane and Low Moor Lane. Take a left onto Thiekwoods Lane. Follow the path to the car park.

Début novembre nous avons décidé d’aller faire une randonnée à Peak District pour observer les jolies couleurs de l’automne. La randonnée autour du barrage de Langsett est assez populaire et courte du coup nous avons décidé de l’augmenter en faisant aussi le tour du barrage de Midhope. Cette randonnée circulaire est facile à faire et accessible aux chiens. Le sentier longe le barrage avant de partir à travers champs. Quelques kilomètres le long de la nationale peu fréquentée permettent de rejoindre le deuxième barrage. La fin de la randonnée offre de magnifiques vues sur les barrages. Le chemin peut parfois être assez boueux.

Voici les étapes pour réaliser cette balade :

• Depuis le parking, descendre vers le premier réservoir et prendre sur la gauche. Suivre jusqu’à arriver sur Midhope Cliff Lane. Passer le pont et suivre la route à travers la forêt.
• Prendre le sentier en haut à gauche qui part à travers champs. Le suivre jusqu’à arriver sur Dark Lane puis Midhope Hall Lane. Continuer pendant un moment avant de repartir à travers champs par un sentier à droite.
• Continuer à travers les champs et la forêt jusqu’à rejoindre Mortimer Road. Prendre à droite puis encore à droite à l’embranchement sur Gill Royd Lane. Continuer sur Shaw Lane et Low Moor Lane. Prendre à gauche sur Thiekwoods Lane. Suivre le sentier jusqu’au parking.
