Last January (2016) we got a little bit of snow in Manchester and Peak District. To enjoy these few centimetres of snow we went for a hike in the Goyt Valley in Peak District.

Au mois de janvier l’année dernière (2016) nous avons eu droit à un peu de neige sur Manchester et Peak District. Pour profiter de ces quelques centimètres de neige nous sommes allés faire une randonnée dans la Goyt Valley à Peak District.

This place is only accessible by car and it will take about one hour to get there from Manchester. But the trip is worth it. We parked in the parking along the Errwood reservoir and made a 6 km circular walk across the snow.

Cet endroit est uniquement accessible en voiture et il faudra compter environ une heure pour s’y rendre depuis Manchester. Mais le voyage en vaut la peine. Nous nous sommes garés sur le parking le long du réservoir Errwood et avons fait une balade circulaire de 6 km dans la neige.

As usual, there were not many people walking around in spite of a beautiful sun. It is a shame that few people go to Peak District as it is truly a beautiful place. At the same time, it’s better for us, like this we are not bothered and can plainly enjoy our hike and forget the civilization for a day.

Comme à l’accoutumée, il n’y avait pas grand monde qui se promenait malgré un beau soleil. Il est dommage que peu de gens se rendent à Peak District car c’est vraiment un endroit magnifique. En même temps, c’est tant mieux pour nous, ainsi nous ne sommes pas embêtés et pouvons profiter pleinement de notre randonnée et oublier la civilisation pendant une journée.

This walk is very pleasant with sublime views on the English countryside. There are still some parts which are quite steep even though most of this hike is easy.

Cette balade est très agréable avec de sublimes vues sur la campagne anglaise. Il y a tout de même quelques passages qui sont assez escarpés même si dans l’ensemble cette randonnée est facile.

• Parking along Errwood reservoir, Buxton;
• From the car park follow the road to Stake Side and Cat and Fiddle;
• Follow the road for a while before turning on the right and then left in the direction of Errwood Hall;
• Pass the ruins and cross the river;
• Turn left towards Pym Chair;
• After a moment turn right towards Foxlow Edge;
• Then go down to the parking.

If you want to walk a little more follow the direction of Shining Tor then Cats Tor then Pym Chair then Foxlow Edge instead of following Errwood Hall.

Si vous souhaitez marcher un peu plus suivez la direction de Shining Tor puis de Cats Tor puis de Pym Chair puis de Foxlow Edge au lieu de suivre Errwood Hall.
