Isle of Anglesey – Wales

Located in the northernmost part of Wales, the Isle of Anglesey is best known for the unpronounceable name of its cities.

Yes yes!! you can take the train to the station of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch.

After spending hours trying to pronounce this name, if you have the time and the energy, you can visit the island by car and walk along its coast classified as “Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty ‘’.

Why to visit Anglesey?

  • For the beauty of the landscape. On one side of the island rises Mount Snowdon with the Irish Sea at its foot;
  • For hikes with breathtaking views;
  • To observe the fauna and flora.

What to do on Anglesey?

If you are a little crazy like us, you can go for a hike around Mount Twr. We did this on a windy and cold day of November. For this, park your car at the country park of Holyhead (GPS address: Breakwater Country Park, Holyhead, LL65 1YG). Parking around £5 for the day. The walk is circular, beginning anti-clockwise and lasting about 4 hours (for the small circuit). The path is well marked.

If you want a beautiful view on Mount Snowdon, make a stop at Plas Newydd.

Read about Plas Newydd here.

Have you been to Anglesey or Wales?

  1. I’ve been to Wales but not that beautiful part! We’re thinking of going camping there over the summer, but haven’t really decided where to go yet. Will keep this one in mind 🙂

  2. I do love Wales, but I’ve explored the South and central parts, not the North or Anglesey. It looks stunning, with the beautiful views and the wonderful places to visit. Sounds like a wonderful place for a holiday.

  3. I haven’t been to Wales for a long time (so long that I can’t really remember it as I was only a child) but I’m sure that I’ll make it back one day! Those are some stunning landscape photos!

  5. I haven’t been to Wales since I was five. I’ll give you a clue as to how long ago that was – David Soul and Boney M were in the charts! I would definitely like to return and bring my family with me 🙂
