During our weekend on Anglesey Island, we took the opportunity to visit Plas Newydd before driving back to Manchester to enjoy a bit of the November sun. this ancient house next to Menai strait was the home of the Marquess of Anglesey, who was in command of the cavalry during the Waterloo battle. The manor has been redecorated during the 18 century by James Wyatt and contains now a military museum. What makes its charm is the view of Mount Snowdon from the garden.

Lors de notre weekend sur l’île d’Anglesey, nous avons profité du peu de soleil qu’offrait ce dimanche matin du mois de novembre pour visiter Plas Newydd avant de repartir pour Manchester. Cette ancienne bâtisse au pied du détroit de Menai était la demeure du Marquis D’anglesey qui commandait la cavalerie à la bataille de Waterloo. La maison fut re-décoré au 18ème par James Wyatt et contient aujourd’hui un musée militaire. Mais ce qui fait son charme est la vue sur le mont Snowdon depuis le jardin.

• For a walk in the garden and admire the scenery;
• For observing the birds;
• To visit the house (unfortunately it was closed when we visited the property);
• For all of the children’s activities.

The garden and park are well maintained and simply magnificent. The view is breathtaking and an irresistible urge takes you to stay contemplating the landscape forever. The atmosphere is so nice and relaxing that you come out of the visit peaceful and serene. If the weather is nice take your picnic with you.

Le jardin et le parc sont bien entretenus. La vue est à couper le souffle et une irrésistible envie vous prend de rester à contempler le paysage indéfiniment. L’atmosphère est tellement agréable et relaxante que vous ressortez de la visite apaisé et serein. Si le temps vous le permet prenez votre pique-nique avec vous.
