De temps en temps le dimanche matin quand le temps n’est pas beau nous aimons aller faire un tour à la brocante à Cockermouth. Cette brocante est située dans les locaux de la compagnie de vente aux enchères Mitchells. Tous les dimanche matin, la salle des ventes d’animaux se transforme en un mélange de marché où nous pouvons acheter des produits locaux tels que des fruits, légumes, viande et de vide-grenier où des professionnels et particuliers viennent vendre des objets d’occasions.

Il y a 15 jours après y avoir fait un tour et avoir trouvé quelques objets qui nous manqués pour la maison comme un miroir, une balance pour cuisiner et des sets de tables, nous avons décidé d’explorer la campagne aux alentours. C’est ainsi que nous sommes tombés sur le salon de thé Wellington Farm Cafe.

Cette ferme perdue dans la campagne environnante de Cockermouth appartient à la famille Stamper depuis 3 générations. La ferme est composée d’un salon de thé, d’un petit parc animalier avec des lamas, d’une école d’équitation et d’autres activités.

Le salon de thé a vue sur les pics et le parc avec les lamas. Il y possible d’aller faire un tour pour voir les lamas.

Le salon de thé a à sa carte diverses plats traditionnels anglais pour végétariens, végétaliens et omnivores tous aussi appétissant les uns que les autres. La vitrine des desserts est alléchante et donne envie de gouter tous les gâteaux. Mais ce qui rend fameux ce salon de thé se sont ses glaces faites maison. Il y a une dizaine de parfums de quoi ravir tous les goûts. Ils servent également des bières locales comme celles de la brasserie le Tractor Shed de Workington.

Le service fut impeccable, rapide et les serveuses avaient toutes un grand sourire. La nourriture était assez copieuse voir même un peu trop pour nous et savoureuse. Suite au repas nous mangeâmes une glace sur leur terrasse face aux montagnes.

Sometimes on Sunday morning when the weather is not nice we like to go to the car boot in Cockermouth. This car boot is located in the premises of the auction company Mitchells. Every Sunday morning, the animal auction room is turned into a mix of producer market where we can buy local fruits, vegetables, meat and a car boot place where professionals and individuals come to sell second hand objects.

Around two weeks ago, after going there and finding some items that we needed for the house such as a mirror and a scale for cooking, we decided to explore the surrounding countryside. That’s how we came across Wellington Farm Cafe.

This farm lost in the countryside near Cockermouth belongs to the Stamper family for 3 generations. The farm consists of a tea room, a small animal park with llamas, a riding school and other activities.

The tea room has views over Lake District peaks and the park with llamas. It is possible to go for a walk to see the llamas.

The tea room has a variety of traditional English dishes for vegetarians, vegans and omnivores, all of which are as appetising as each other. The showcase of desserts is appealing and makes you want to taste all the cakes. But what makes this tea room famous is its homemade ice cream. There are a dozen perfumes that will delight all tastes. They also serve local beers such as Tractor Shed beers from Workington.

The service was impeccable, fast and all the waitresses had a big smile. The food was quite plentiful and even it was a little too much for us and very tasty. After the meal we ate ice cream on their terrace facing the mountains.
